Desi is people from india pakistan and bengladesh by definition.
I clearly meant it as we are not desi because truthfully nepali people are not though are we?.
But i think now our generation considers any south asian as desi. Anyway my friend argued with about this lol😂. Desi style bread rolls are made by filling flattened bread with a seasoned potato and pea mixture. To start off, my ethnicity is indian tamil, and i generally consider indian tamils to be desi (or desam which is desi in tamil).
But there's definitely an issue with using the word, especially in front of people who aren't pahari.
